It lives!!! Finally I got it fired up, put the drive shafts back in and took her for a ride. I still have a few things left to do before she is ready to wheel, but the worst is over. Here are some pics of the engine finished.

So here is the latest. I have been working on some of the details like, the 4 wheel drive linkage being out of whack. I found that on the coolant expansion tank, the little pinhole that would dribble a little bit just split and it now emptys the tank every time I drive it. I am waiting on the parts to convert it to a open system. (this is cheaper than buying another failure prone plastic tank) The power steering is acting up. The fluid will foam up and the pump will start to whine after a few minuets of driving. I checked the lines for leaks or pin holes that could let air in but found nothing. The lines look like they are in good shape. The fluid is old and looks nasty. I figure that it might have some moisture in it that could cause this or the pump could just be on its way out. I have another but i'm not sure if it is good or not. I need to put on the lift and the front skid pan and do a few other things before it is wheeling ready. I just have to get the basics taken care of first.

Did you open the lines for the power steering at all? Sounds to me you have air in the system. If you dont know how to bleed it out. Heres how. Fill the power steering up. with the cap off start the jeep. Turn the wheels back and forth slow from lock - lock. Do this a few times and it will bleed the air out. Make sure it is full and pop the cap back on. The foam is air. Hope that fixes it for you.

Quadratec has those bottles for 25.00 or so. Not bad. I really like the closed system and when setup right and maintained they are in fact the most efficiant system. Food for thought.

Yea I did this for about 45min the other day. The thing is, I never opened the lines when I pulled the motor. I just took off the pump and laid it to the side.

Yea they are really good when they work. I just hear stories of people going through bottle after bottle. If I was going to replace it I would get one of those nice aluminum tig welded bottles, but they cost like 120 bucks or more. Or I can convert for about 20 bucks and not have to worry about blowing a bottle again.
